What is leakycon?

LeakyCon is a conference that celebrates the Harry Potter fandom. This year it will take place in Chicago, IL, from August 9 through August 12.

can i bring my dslr camera, video camera or other recording device?

Yes, you may bring with you a DSLR Camera or video camera if you please. However if your equipment reaches professional standard (external lighting, tripods, large zooms, etc.) you may be asked to sign a waiver. (Or to join our photography staff!)

will there be wizard rock?

How do i register for leakycon?

Why did my email tell me to print something with a bar code on it?

Because we changed our policy shortly after opening pre-registration, and there was a lag before the emails updated to reflect this fact: You do not need a bar code as of now. Currently you will only need to print your Registration Record, which is viewable via links sent to you after registration.

what are the different registration options?

REGULAR REGISTRATION: The basic entrance to LeakyCon! Includes entrance to the conference, access to the opening, formal and informal programming, wizard rock, podcasts, meetups, vendor room, galleries, and a lot more. And, of course, the Esther Earl Rocking Charity Ball.

In addition, LeakyCon full registrants can go to LeakyCon Lit for a reduced cost (available as part of the registration process).

ROCK STAR PASS: This is not just a premium pass, it is now an ALL-ACCESS pass. You can go to any keynote or special event; you can go to LeakyCon Lit. You get fast track to registration and you still get premium seating.

Please note that we have sold out of Rock Star passes, if you would like to be added to the waitlist please register for LeakyCon here and choose Rock Star upgrade on the agenda page to be added to the waitlist. You must purchase a regular registration in order to be added to the waitlist.

LeakyCon Lit is a followup to the hugely successful first LeakyCon Lit Day in 2011: meet the industry leaders in children’s and young adult publishing, from authors to agents to editors. Celebrate reading and the power of story in a way rarely seen before. 2011′s guests included Maureen Johnson, John Green, Scott Westerfeld, David Levithan, Libba Bray, and more: stay tuned as we reveal another amazing lineup!

DAY PASS:

Day Passes for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday programming at LeakyCon 2012 are now available!  You can select the day or days of your choice at https://www.etouches.com/leakycon2012.  Each Day Pass is $90 and provides entrance to panels, roundtables, discussions, meet-ups, and more!

Please note, if you would like to attend the Rock Concerts and Esther Earl Rocking Charity Ball, there is an option to add those to your registration for an additional $10 each.  As with regular registration, keynotes are not included in the Day Pass price of $90.  If you would like to attend these events, such as A Very StarKid Event (II), please be sure to add them when you register!

How much does leakycon cost?

A Regular Registration is $225. A Rock Star registration is $400. Lit Track with a full registration is $75 for Adults (18 and up) and $40 for youth (13-17). Lit Track without a full registration is $150 for Adults (18 and up) and $75 for youth (13-17).

What are your policies for attendees who are under 18?

If you are aged 13, 14 or 15 by the time the conference begins, you will have to have a chaperone at the conference; if that chaperone (over 21) is not your legal guardian, you will need to download and have signed and notarized our permission form, and bring it with you to the conference for presentation with your chaperone.

A chaperone DOES NOT have to attend the conference. This is based on the success of last year’s White Pass program. Your chaperone will get a pass that identifies them as a chaperone – ie, a white pass – but does not allow them to the conference. This is so in the case of an emergency we can quickly identify them as your contact and give them the proper access. This means white passes are available to chaperones who are not your legal guardian, so long as all our other policies concerning notarized forms are followed precisely.

We have changed this policy for ages 16 and 17: for these ages, you just have to download the form and have it signed by a parent or legal guardian, and have it notarized so we know it’s legit. Then you don’t need to have a chaperone.

Ages 18 and up may register at will. Those under age 13 may have access to a family track once again: however no person under age 13 may attend the conference without their parent or legal guardian in any instance. We will update you as soon as possible.

All forms will be available within the months before the conference!

May I pay over time?

No. All purchases must be made in full.

Why was there an error processing my card?

Please be sure you have entered all your information correctly and that your card has a sufficient amount of credit to purchase a registration. That is the only thing we can help you to fix: Please try a different card if the error persists.

Can I register multiple people at once?

Yes, during the registration process you will be able to register more than one person at once.

I’d like to give a leakycon registration as a gift, how do i do that?

Giving LeakyCon as a gift is easy, simple go to LeakyCon.com/give and follow the instructions!

May I refund my registration?

Before July 1, 2012, you can get a half refund. After July 1 there are no refunds for any reason, as we have to start guaranteeing numbers. For more information regarding our refund policy please click here.
